All Is Well

All Is Well is the second album by Sam Amidon, released in 2008 on the Bedroom Community label. The basic tracks were recorded late one night in 2006 at Greenhouse Studios in Reykjavik during a visit for the Airwaves Festival, with Valgeir Sigurdsson engineering. Sigurdsson later produced and mixed the record, and Nico Muhly wrote chamber arrangements for brass, woodwinds and strings around Amidon's guitar, banjo and voice.

The album reworks mostly Appalachian traditional songs, including Sugar Baby, Saro, Wild Bill Jones, O Death and the shape note hymn that gives the record its title. Critics praised how the orchestral writing adds space without overwhelming the folk material.
