All the light in the world

All the light in the world is the debut full-length collaboration between Montreal saxophonist Colin Stetson and Scottish smallpipes player Brighde Chaimbeul, released September 11, 2026 on Envision Records in Canada and Invada Records elsewhere. The eight-track record was written and performed entirely by the duo, with no additional musicians or overdubs, just two players in a room.

The label described it as a collaborative album that feels both ancient and immediate, merging Stetson's saxophone technique with Chaimbeul's command of the Scottish smallpipes into music that drifts between drone, ritual, and cinematic expanse. The duo built the pieces from deep listening and improvisation held inside deliberately strict structural parameters, capturing waves of breath, reed, resonance, and silence unfolding in real time.

Stetson first took notice of Chaimbeul through her acclaimed 2019 debut The Reeling. The pair's musical relationship began in earnest with Tha Fonn Gun Bhi Trom (I Am Disposed of Mirth), a track featuring Stetson on Chaimbeul's 2023 solo album Carry Them With Us. That partnership grew into a full duo record, recorded live at Stetson's Vermont studio, The End of the World.
