Arrival
About this Album
Arrival, released in late 1976, is the fourth studio album by ABBA and the record on which the group moved beyond the novelty tag of their Eurovision years into a sleek, confident pop sound. It was the best-selling album of 1977 in the United Kingdom and later topped the Official Charts Company's ranking of the group's albums.
Critics have looked back kindly. AllMusic described the album as the band's move beyond bubblegum, and Pitchfork called the group at their best as mysterious as Bowie, as rococo as Phil Spector and as unbearably sad as the Smiths. Its centerpiece is "Dancing Queen", ABBA's first real step into disco.
