Ball of Light
About this Album
Ball of Light is the third full-length Chrome Sparks album and the first solo record Jeremy Malvin has released since his 2018 self-titled debut[1]. In the years between, Malvin largely stepped out of the spotlight to work as a producer and collaborator for other artists, including Slayyyter, Lily Allen, Mallrat, and Selena Gomez alongside Benny Blanco[1].
Malvin has described the twelve-track album, released September 11, 2026 via Chrome Sounds/AWAL, as a deliberate return to his own artistic voice after years of working in service of other people's projects[2]. The record opens with the lead single "Sleeper," a collaboration with Khalid and Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi that pairs mainstream pop-R&B phrasing with atmospheric, post-rock texture[3]. The title track follows immediately after, featuring Australian singer-songwriter Emma Louise, who also appears later on "Only, I"[4].
Critically, the album has been framed as expansive yet intimate, reconnecting with the melodic, emotionally direct songwriting that first drew attention to Chrome Sparks on the 2012 viral single "Marijuana," while pushing the production into more cinematic and ambient territory[2].
