Beach Music

Beach Music is the 2015 album by Alex G, released on October 9, 2015, through Domino, his first release for the label.^[1] It was recorded between the fall of 2014 and the spring of 2015, largely by Alex Giannascoli himself, and it runs thirteen tracks.^[1]

Giannascoli recorded at his apartment, at his girlfriend's place, and at a friend's house, working digitally, before Jacob Portrait mixed the record and removed much of the hiss.^[2] The title nods to a Pat Conroy novel, and the cover painting by his sister Rachel Giannascoli was described as being about embracing all sides of yourself.^[1][3]

Critics heard a restless, intimate record that moves between shambling guitar songs, waltzes and electronic detours, with singles "Bug," "Salt" and "Kicker."^[1][3]
