Befikre
About this Album
Befikre is the soundtrack to the 2016 Bollywood film of the same name, directed and produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner. The film marked a significant departure for Chopra, who had previously directed only Shah Rukh Khan vehicles. With Befikre he cast Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor in a story set in Paris, centering on two young Indian characters whose romance begins as a no-strings pact before deepening into genuine love.[1]
The music was composed by Vishal-Shekhar (Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani), with lyrics primarily by Jaideep Sahni. The soundtrack was released through YRF Music beginning with the lead single "Nashe Si Chadh Gayi" in October 2016, ahead of the film's December 9 theatrical release.[2]
While the film received mixed to negative critical reviews, the soundtrack performed exceptionally well. "Nashe Si Chadh Gayi" became the first Hindi song ever to cross 300 million YouTube views and eventually accumulated more than 670 million, at one point holding the position of the most-viewed Hindi-language video in the history of the platform.[3] The album's tone mirrors the film's "befikre" (carefree, reckless) philosophy: the songs celebrate attraction, pleasure, and the freedom of youth with an unabashed directness unusual for mainstream Bollywood of its era.
