Blowin' Your Mind! is the debut solo album credited to Van Morrison, released in September 1967 on Bert Berns' Bang Records[1]. It was assembled from a two-day session in New York in late March 1967 that Morrison understood to be producing a handful of singles, not a full-length record[2].
Morrison has long distanced himself from the LP, saying Bang put it together and released it without his knowledge or approval, packaging it with cover art he found embarrassing and padding the eight songs with extended studio jams to fill side two[2][1]. Despite that fraught origin, the record captures Morrison mid-transition, moving from the R&B-driven garage rock of his old band Them toward the more personal, soul-and-folk-inflected songwriting that would define his career, and it remains best known for launching his biggest hit, "Brown Eyed Girl," alongside the darker, more autobiographical "T.B. Sheets"[1].
