About this Album

Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva is the original motion picture soundtrack of the 2022 Hindi-language fantasy action film written and directed by Ayan Mukerji. Composed by Pritam Chakraborty with lyrics primarily by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the album was released in full on October 6, 2022, under Sony Music India, following several individual single releases beginning in July of that year.[1]

The soundtrack was designed to function as a spiritual companion to the film's mythology, blending Sanskrit devotional mantras, Punjabi folk idioms, and contemporary electronic production into a cohesive sonic world. The film itself launched what director Mukerji called the Astraverse, an Indian cinematic universe rooted in the cosmic weapons of Hindu scripture.[2]

Key tracks include the romantic anthem "Kesariya" (which became the first Indian song to surpass 500 million streams on Spotify), the devotional epic "Deva Deva" featuring Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi, and "Dance Ka Bhoot." The album won Pritam his fifth Filmfare Award for Best Music Director and, at the 70th National Film Awards, the National Film Award for Best Music Direction.[3]
