Bury Me at Makeout Creek is Mitski's third studio album, released on November 11, 2014 by Double Double Whammy and produced by Patrick Hyland.[1] Written and recorded while she finished school and worked to pay rent, it was made largely in houses and makeshift studios.[1] It marked a turn from the orchestral, piano-led sound of her first two albums toward guitar-driven indie rock.[1][2]
Don Giovanni Records reissued it with four bonus tracks on April 7, 2015, and it was released again through Dead Oceans in 2016.[1] Critics praised its blend of polished pop craft and punk rawness: Pitchfork gave it 7.7/10, and it is certified Gold in the US.[1]
