Cayenne Flowerbed is a full-length album from Lethbridge, Alberta band Starpainter, released September 9, 2026 on Ram On Records as the follow-up to their acclaimed 2023 record Rattlesnake Dream.
The eleven-song record was produced and engineered by Chris Dadge (drummer for Alvvays, longtime collaborator of Chad VanGaalen) at Child Stone Studios in Calgary, mixed by Jon Anderson, and mastered by Philip Shaw Bova. Bandleader Joel Stretch wrote the songs, which were then shaped collectively by the full six-piece lineup of Stretch, Joel Gray, Mickey Hayward, Dylan Wagner, Bailey Kate, and Tyler Stewart, with additional instrumentation from Dadge.
Stretch has described the sessions as the band's most collaborative and least predictable to date, blending cinematic folk, fuzzy country rock, and richly textured pop across the tracklist. The band, which describes itself as "a little bit town, and a little bit country," leaned into that duality throughout the record, following singles "I Found a River" and "Rabbits" with the title track and eight further songs before closing on "Lake Minnewanka."
