About this Album

Cursum Perficio is the twelfth studio album by American thrash metal band Anthrax, released on September 18, 2026 through Megaforce Records and Nuclear Blast. It is the band's first collection of new material in a decade, following 2016's For All Kings, and the longest gap between studio albums in the band's history.

Recording began in the spring of 2023 at Studio 606 in Northridge, California, with vocalist Joey Belladonna's sessions starting that November. The album was produced by Jay Ruston and wasn't mixed until mid-2025, with years of false starts preceding the sessions that finally produced the record.

The album's title is a Latin phrase meaning roughly "my journey has come to an end" or "I complete my journey." Drummer Charlie Benante found the inscription on a tile at the entrance to Marilyn Monroe's final home while watching a documentary about her life, and brought the phrase back to the band. The group has been careful to clarify that the title does not signal Anthrax's end, only the close of a particular chapter.

The record features the current lineup of Scott Ian and Jonathan Donais on guitar, Frank Bello on bass, Charlie Benante on drums, and Joey Belladonna on vocals, with no lineup changes from For All Kings. Singles released ahead of the album include "It's For the Kids," "The Edge of Perfection," and "Everybody's Got a Plan." Critics have generally placed it among the band's strongest work, praising its mix of classic thrash aggression and more mature, reflective songwriting.
