Epic
About this Album
Epic is the second album by Sharon Van Etten, released on September 21, 2010, on Ba Da Bing Records. Its seven songs run about thirty-two minutes[1].
The record was made in roughly eleven days at Miner Street Recordings in Philadelphia with producer Brian McTear, alongside guests including Meg Baird and members of The War on Drugs[1]. Van Etten was interning at the label at the time[4], and she has described the album as the moment she learned to ask for help and build a band around her songs[2].
Critics responded warmly, with a Metacritic score of 82, and singled out "Save Yourself" and "Love More" as highlights[1][4]. A tenth-anniversary edition, Epic Ten, paired the album with covers by other artists in 2021[1].
