Get Disowned
About this Album
Get Disowned is the debut full-length by Philadelphia band Hop Along, released on May 5, 2012, with Hot Green Records handling the US release and Big Scary Monsters the UK and Europe.[1][2] Saddle Creek reissued it in 2016.[1]
It was produced by Joe Reinhart, formerly of Algernon Cadwallader, who later joined the band, and recorded piece by piece over about two years at Headroom Studios in North Philadelphia.[3][1] Frances Quinlan has called the result a collage, and its lyrical themes include death and loss.[1]
The record built its reputation slowly. Pitchfork rated it 8.5 out of 10, Stereogum called it a crucial early-2010s Philadelphia indie rock album in 2018, and it placed on decade-end lists from The A.V. Club and WXPN.[1] Its second track, "Tibetan Pop Stars," is its best-known song.[2][3]
