Backxwash’s second studio album, self-released through Grimalkin Records on May 28, 2020, runs about 22 minutes across ten tracks.[2] Built from metal, televangelist, and choir samples, it works through her religious upbringing in Zambia, her identity as a Black trans woman, and the question of forgiveness.[1] It won the 2020 Polaris Music Prize.[4]
