Hatful of Hollow

Hatful of Hollow is a compilation by the Smiths, released by Rough Trade in November 1984. It collects recordings from their BBC radio sessions alongside early singles and their B-sides^[7]. The album reached the UK top ten and drew strong reviews, and many fans treat it as an essential entry point to the band^[7]. The radio versions are looser and rawer than the polished studio takes, which gives the collection a live, immediate character^[7]. It also preserves "How Soon Is Now?", a B-side whose tremolo-drenched sound stands apart from the rest^[1].
