Heaven to a Tortured Mind
About this Album
Heaven to a Tortured Mind is the fourth studio album by Yves Tumor, released by Warp on April 3, 2020. It was announced in February 2020 alongside the single "Gospel for a New Century," followed by "Kerosene!" and "Romanticist / Dream Palette."[1]
The album was produced by Justin Raisen, Mahssa Taghinia and Yves Tumor, with guest vocals from Diana Gordon, Kelsey Lu, Julia Cumming, Clara La San, Hirakish and Pan Daijing.[1]
Critics heard a bold turn toward glam, funk and classic-rock grandeur, with horns, electric pianos and falsetto vocals. Paste framed it around a self-exalting cult of personality and a devilish, shapeshifting persona.[2] It earned a Metacritic score of 88 from 18 reviews, five stars from AllMusic, and the number seven spot on Pitchfork's list of the 50 best albums of 2020.[1]
