Honky Château

Honky Château is the fifth studio album by Elton John, released on 19 May 1972. It was recorded in January 1972 at the Château d'Hérouville, a residential studio about twenty-five miles north-west of Paris, in sessions that ran for little more than a week. It was the first album made with the core band of drummer Nigel Olsson, bassist Dee Murray, and guitarist Davey Johnstone.

The record reached number one on the US Billboard 200, the first of seven consecutive American chart-topping albums, and number two in the UK. It contains the single "Rocket Man," a meditation on the loneliness of an astronaut who treats space travel as a job.
