About this Album

Hot Space is Queen's tenth studio album, released in May 1982 and recorded between June 1981 and March 1982 at Mountain Studios in Montreux and Musicland in Munich.[1] It leaned into disco, funk, R&B and dance sounds, and the band used a drum machine for the first time.[1] The shift followed the American success of "Another One Bites the Dust" and divided fans and critics.[1]

"Under Pressure", the collaboration with David Bowie, was a separate project recorded ahead of the album and released as a single in October 1981. It reached number one in the UK and is widely seen as the album's high point.[1] Hot Space itself peaked at number four in the UK and number 22 on the US Billboard 200.[1]
