About this Album
House of Sugar is the eighth studio album by Alex G, released on September 13, 2019 through Domino. Recorded largely in New York City and at his home in Philadelphia, its title nods both to the gingerbread house of Hansel and Gretel and to the SugarHouse casino in Philadelphia. The thirteen songs are populated by gamblers, addicts and con artists, and the record was widely praised, earning a Metacritic score of 86 and an 8.6 from Pitchfork.
