Jubilee

Jubilee is the third studio album by Japanese Breakfast, released on June 4, 2021 on Dead Oceans.^[1] Michelle Zauner conceived it as a record about joy, following several years of writing about grief after her mother's death in 2014.^[1]

The album was produced by Zauner with Craig Hendrix, Jack Tatum, Ryan Galloway and Alex G, and draws on alternative pop, dream pop and indie pop.^[1] It was widely acclaimed (Metacritic 88/100) and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.^[1] Darker songs such as "In Hell" still deal with grief, so the joy it sings about is hard won rather than naive.^[1]
