Judee Sill
About this Album
Judee Sill's self-titled debut was released on September 15, 1971, on David Geffen's new Asylum label. It features her voice layered into multi-part choral arrangements, often shaped like a chorale or fugue, over piano, strings and organ. The single "Jesus Was a Cross Maker," produced by Graham Nash, was added late and displaced two songs that later appeared on Heart Food. The album was praised by critics but sold poorly, despite some radio airplay for the single.
