About this Album

Just Another Diamond Day is the 1970 debut album by English folk singer-songwriter Vashti Bunyan, released on Philips in December 1970 in a very small pressing[1]. Its fourteen songs were written during a slow horse-and-wagon journey through Britain toward the Hebrides[2][3].

Producer Joe Boyd recorded the album over about three days in December 1969 at Sound Techniques in London, with musicians from the Incredible String Band and Fairport Convention and Robert Kirby, who also worked in that Boyd circle[1]. It sold poorly, and Bunyan left the music industry for roughly thirty years[2].

A CD reissue in 2000 turned it into a cult classic and a touchstone for freak folk[1][4]. Pitchfork rated it 9.0 out of 10 and compared it to the Nick Drake albums Boyd produced[1].
