Kabir Singh
About this Album
The soundtrack to Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 2019 Bollywood film Kabir Singh is one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed Hindi film albums of the decade. Composed primarily by Sachet-Parampara (Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur), with additional contributions from Vishal Mishra ("Mere Sohneya"), Mithoon ("Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage"), and background scoring by Julius Packiam, the album was released by T-Series on 7 June 2019, with select singles premiering earlier.
The film follows a self-destructive medical student whose consuming love story unravels into obsession, addiction, and emotional collapse. The soundtrack mirrors this arc with remarkable precision: from the aching enormity of the lead single "Bekhayali" to the tender devotion of "Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage" and the quiet sorrow of "Mere Sohneya." The music was built around director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's exacting emotional briefs, and Sachet-Parampara have credited his specific creative direction as central to the album's emotional coherence.
By the end of 2019, the Kabir Singh album was India's most-streamed album of the year across platforms. "Bekhayali" became the first Hindi film song to top Spotify's Global Viral 50 chart. The album exceeded one billion combined streams by July 2020 and won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Album. It is widely credited with reviving interest in guitar-driven romantic compositions in mainstream Bollywood, with the acoustic intro of "Bekhayali" alone becoming one of the most widely learned guitar passages among young Indian musicians that year.
