About this Album

The Agent Intellect is Protomartyr's third album, released on Hardly Art in 2015. Its title comes from an obscure Aristotelian idea that philosophers have never agreed on, which Joe Casey saw as a fitting metaphor for the mind[3]. NPR called it a major step forward and a move inward, simmering, brooding and unsettling[1].

It includes Why Does It Shake?, the song in which Casey first sang about the imaginary city of Anacita, later revisited on Relatives in Descent[4].
