About this Album

Thriller is the sixth studio album by Michael Jackson, produced by Quincy Jones with Jackson as co-producer. It was recorded at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles between April and November 1982 and released by Epic Records on November 29, 1982.[1]

The album mixes pop, rock, funk, and R&B, and returns repeatedly to paranoia, suspicion, and the pressures of fame, with "Billie Jean" as its clearest example.[1]

It became the best-selling album of all time with an estimated 70 million copies sold, held the top of the Billboard 200 for a record 37 non-consecutive weeks, and won a record eight Grammys. Reviews at release were generally positive, though a few critics ranked it below Off the Wall. Its reputation has only grown, and it was added to the National Recording Registry in 2008.[1]
