About this Album

VOLUMES: ONE is Bon Iver's first non-studio album, released April 3, 2026 on Jagjaguwar. It captures ten live performances recorded with the expanded 6-piece band between 2019 and 2023, with one track, a cover of "A Satisfied Mind" recorded at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine on December 8, 2017, standing as the oldest document in the collection.

Justin Vernon spent several years curating the tracklist from his concert archive, modeling the project explicitly on Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series and the Neil Young Archives. He described the album as the record he would hand someone to introduce them to Bon Iver at its fullest: "This is what we became. This is really us at our best. This is it."

The album draws primarily from Bon Iver's 2016 record 22, A Million and the 2019 release i,i, with contributions from bandmates Jenn Wasner, Sean Carey, Michael Lewis, Matthew McCaughan, and Andrew Fitzpatrick. It also marks the first official release of "HEAVENLY FATHER," a touring staple that had never appeared on a studio record.

Critics praised the album for its warmth and muscular live energy, noting that it breaks decisively from the introspective "sad man in a cabin" image that defined Bon Iver's early years. Vernon has described VOLUMES as an ongoing series, with future editions comprising other live shows, demos, and unreleased material released on a recurring basis.
