The soundtrack for War (2019), composed by the prolific duo Vishal-Shekhar (Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani), arrived alongside one of the most commercially successful Indian films of the decade. Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films, War starred Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in a high-octane action thriller that collected approximately Rs. 475 crore worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of 2019.

Vishal-Shekhar, by the time of this project, were marking twenty years as a composing partnership. The War album demonstrated their continued ability to blend contemporary electronic production with Bollywood's melodic traditions and classical Indian references. The standout track 'Ghungroo,' featuring Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao, became a cultural phenomenon, accumulating over 467 million YouTube views and winning multiple awards for choreography and female playback singing.

The album's mix of dance numbers, romantic interludes, and action-themed pieces reflects the film's own tonal ambition: a Bollywood blockbuster confident enough to pause its spy thriller narrative for a sun-drenched Mediterranean dance sequence, then return to the business of high-stakes international espionage.
