Biography
Alec Benjamin is an American singer-songwriter born in Phoenix, Arizona, on May 28, 1994. He grew up there with his sister, began writing songs at thirteen, learned guitar in high school, and moved to Los Angeles as a teenager.[1]
He enrolled at the University of Southern California and signed with Columbia Records, but the label ended the partnership weeks after he submitted his album. Undeterred, he funded a European tour himself and promoted his music by performing in parking lots outside venues and handing out business cards.[1]
After signing with Atlantic Records, he released the mixtape Narrated for You in November 2018. Its breakout single "Let Me Down Slowly" reached the top 40 in more than 25 countries and was later re-released as a version with Alessia Cara.[1] His albums include These Two Windows (2020), (Un)Commentary (2022) and 12 Notes (2024).[1]
In October 2026 he released the single "Follow Me" through Atlantic Records, his first new music since "Pretending."[2]
