Brent Faiyaz

Brent Faiyaz was born Christopher Brent Wood on September 19, 1995, in Columbia, Maryland^[1]. He began producing his own beats before he was a teenager and posted music to SoundCloud while still in high school, eventually leaving home at eighteen to pursue a music career his parents had initially discouraged^[1].

His breakthrough came in 2016 as a featured vocalist on GoldLink's "Crew," a single that went multi-platinum and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Performance^[1]. That same year, Faiyaz released the EP A.M. Paradox and co-founded the R&B group Sonder alongside producers Dpat and Atu^[1].

As a solo artist, Faiyaz built a run of acclaimed full-length projects: the 2020 EP Fuck the World, which reached number twenty on the Billboard 200, and 2022's Wasteland, which debuted at number two^[1]. In 2023 he founded the independent label and creative agency ISO Supremacy in partnership with UnitedMasters, using it to release his mixtape Larger than Life and to sign other artists, including Tommy Richman^[1].

His third studio album, Icon, arrived on February 13, 2026, after Faiyaz pulled a planned September 2025 release at the last minute^[2]. Executive produced by Raphael Saadiq and mastered by Mike Dean, the album leans into a 1990s-influenced, nu-disco-inflected sound and marked a notable shift toward warmer, more vulnerable songwriting compared to the guarded persona of his earlier work^[2].
