Biography
Disclosure is the English electronic music duo of brothers Guy Lawrence, born May 25, 1991, and Howard Lawrence, born May 11, 1994, who grew up in Reigate, Surrey[1]. Music ran in the family well before either brother picked up production software: their father played in rock bands before later becoming an auctioneer, and their mother worked as a session musician and performer. Guy began playing drums at age three, and Howard took up bass at eight[1].
The pair officially started making music together as Disclosure in 2010, producing early tracks in a room above their father's auction house and uploading them online before signing to PMR Records[1]. Their breakthrough came with 2013's debut album Settle, which topped the UK Albums Chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronica Album, built around the duo's knack for pairing house and garage production with guest vocalists. The follow-up, Caracal, repeated that UK number one placement in 2015 and picked up its own Grammy nomination[1].
Disclosure continued that streak with 2020's Energy, which drew Grammy nominations for both the album and its single "My High," and 2023's Alchemy, their fourth studio album[1]. Across that run of records the brothers built a reputation less as frontmen than as producers who could draw standout performances from other artists' voices, working with collaborators including Sam Smith, Lorde, the Weeknd, Kelis, and slowthai.
Their momentum has carried into the mid-2020s: the video for "She's Gone, Dance On" won Best Cinematography at the 2025 Berlin Music Video Awards, and their 2025 single "No Cap," featuring Anderson .Paak, earned a Grammy nomination heading into the 2026 ceremony[1]. In March 2026, following a run of collaborative singles including "Deeper" with Leon Thomas, the duo released "The Sun Comes Up Tremendous," a rare track built around Howard's own lead vocal rather than a guest feature, his first time singing lead since Alchemy[2][3]. The single arrived just ahead of a Spring 2026 North American tour that includes both weekends of Coachella, positioning it as the emotional centerpiece of one of the biggest touring cycles of their career[2].
