Biography

Jennifer Lopez, born July 24, 1969, in the Bronx, New York, to Puerto Rican parents, emerged as one of the most commercially successful and culturally significant entertainers of the late 20th and early 21st centuries[7]. Her career has spanned music, film, television, fashion, and live performance, establishing her as a cross-disciplinary figure whose influence extends well beyond any single medium.

Lopez began her professional career as a dancer, most notably as a Fly Girl on the sketch comedy series "In Living Color" in the early 1990s. She transitioned into acting and became the first Latina actress to earn more than $1 million for a film with her role in "Selena" (1997)[7]. Her debut studio album, "On the 6" (1999), arrived at a moment when Latin pop crossover sounds were reshaping American radio, and its success established Lopez as a recording artist of genuine commercial force.

Over the following two decades, Lopez released nine studio albums, headlined world tours, launched a Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and served as a coach on the television competition series "American Idol." Her romantic life, which intersected repeatedly with her public image, reached a cultural apex with her highly publicized relationship and engagement to Ben Affleck in the early 2000s, a story she revisited in her ninth studio album, "This Is Me... Now" (2024), which accompanied a musical film and documentary of the same name.

Lopez married Affleck in July 2022[7], but filed for divorce in August 2024, with the divorce finalized in January 2025. The period that followed saw Lopez publicly embrace what she termed her "Happy Era," repositioning her work toward dance-floor liberation and communal joy[3]. "Save Me Tonight" (2026), her first collaboration with David Guetta, became one of the clearest musical expressions of that emotional reorientation.
