Biography
Jessica Pratt is a singer-songwriter born in San Francisco, known for hushed, mostly acoustic songs and a smoky, soft voice[1]. Her early influences included her mother's records and T. Rex's Electric Warrior, whose guitar parts she learned by ear[1].
Her 2012 self-titled debut of lo-fi home recordings was released on a small label with help from Tim Presley of White Fence and made her a critical favorite, leading to an opening slot for Father John Misty[1]. She followed it with On Your Own Love Again (2015), recorded alone in Los Angeles after her mother's death[1].
Critics have compared her to Sibylle Baier, Vashti Bunyan, Nico, and Karen Dalton[2]. Her song "Back, Baby" became her most-streamed track and was sampled by Troye Sivan in 2023[5]. Her 2024 album Here in the Pitch is regarded as her most refined work[5].
