Biography
Jonah Kagen is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Savannah, Georgia, born on January 10, 2000.[1]
He attended Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Minnesota, then Cornell University, where he earned a psychology degree in 2022 and co-captained the soccer team.[1] He began releasing singles in 2021 and is signed to Arista Records.[1]
His discography includes the album Georgia Got Colder (2022), the EPs Made Up My Mind, The Roads and Black Dress, and the debut major-label album Sunflowers and Leather (2025), which he wrote while traveling in an Airstream trailer.[1] "God Needs the Devil" reached number one on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart in May 2025.[1] His second album, Eternity of Anything, is due in October 2026, and he wrote, produced and mixed it himself.[2]
In 2024 Kagen began touring the United States in an Airstream trailer, which doubled as the studio where he produced and recorded his EP Black Dress[3]. That year he also played his first European tour and his first Austin City Limits Festival appearance[3]. For Eternity of Anything he has said he stopped moving and had to pull the songs out of himself, a contrast with the travelling that shaped his earlier work[2].
