Biography
Palehound is the project of Kempner, a songwriter and guitarist who grew up in Westport, Connecticut. After studying at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, Kempner left school and moved to Boston.[1]
Palehound began as a solo project in 2013 with the single "Pet Carrot" and the EP Bent Nail. The albums Dry Food (2015), A Place I'll Always Go (2017), Black Friday (2019) and Eye on the Bat (2023) followed, with Polyvinyl Records releasing the later work.[1]
On Black Friday, recorded with producer Gabe Wax, Kempner wrote more openly about the body, queer identity and friendship, trading earlier abrasive guitars for softer arrangements.[2]
