Biography
Swapmeet are a four-piece indie rock band from Adelaide, South Australia, made up of Venus O'Broin, Joshua Doherty, Maxwell Elphick and Jack Medlyn.[1] The members met as teenagers in the early 2020s and bonded over 1990s alternative rock, naming Pavement and Sonic Youth as early influences.[2]
Several members sing, write and swap instruments, and the band self-produced their debut album.[4] They moved from local pub gigs to larger Australian stages, won an emerging artist and best performance award at SXSW Sydney, and made their United States debut at SXSW in Austin in 2026.[3]
In February 2026 they signed to the label Winspear, home to Slow Pulp, Winter and Wishy, as its first non-US signing, and released the single "I Know!".[2] Their debut album, Mount Zero, followed on 17 July 2026, after the earlier EP Oxalis.[4][5]
