Biography

The Strokes are a New York City rock band made up of Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond Jr., Nick Valensi, Nikolai Fraiture, and Fab Moretti.[1]

Producer Gordon Raphael saw them at Manhattan's Luna Lounge in late 2000 and recorded three songs with them in three days at his East Village studio, Transporterraum. Rough Trade released those tracks in the UK as The Modern Age EP.[1]

Their debut album, Is This It (2001), was recorded live and fast, reached number two on the UK Albums Chart, and is widely considered one of the most influential albums of its era.[1][2]
