Biography
Titus Andronicus is an American punk and indie rock band formed in Glen Rock, New Jersey, in 2005, and named after Shakespeare's play.[1] Patrick Stickles is the band's singer and songwriter.
Stickles has said the name was simply a name the band needed, and that he writes exclusively about himself. He has also credited a strict Catholic upbringing for the dread and guilt that runs through the songs.[2]
The band released The Airing of Grievances in 2008 and then The Monitor, a Civil War-themed concept album, on XL Recordings in March 2010.[1] The Monitor debuted at No. 7 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, and Rolling Stone named the group one of the seven best new bands of 2010.[1] Later albums include Local Business and, from 2015, releases on Merge Records.[1]
