Vagabon

Person

Biography

Vagabon is the project of Lætitia Tamko, a Cameroon-born, New York-based musician. Her family moved to New York when she was thirteen[3].

Tamko studied engineering and worked as an electrical and computer engineer before committing to music full time, and she has said she still does calculus each morning[2]. She emerged from the Brooklyn DIY scene with her 2017 debut, Infinite Worlds, a guitar-driven record[3].

After touring that album for two years, she turned away from guitar and taught herself production, writing, arranging and producing her self-titled 2019 album for Nonesuch Records by herself. The result moved toward synth-pop, house and R&B-influenced electronic textures[2],[1]. She was 26 when the album came out[3].
