About this Album

Bright Green Field is the debut album by Squid, released on 7 May 2021 through Warp.[1] It was recorded throughout 2020 at Mr. Dan's Studio in London with producer Dan Carey, and the sessions included a 30-person choir, a horn and string ensemble, and field recordings of bees.[1]

The title comes from a surreal short story by Anna Kavan, in which a narrator is pursued by grass.[1] Ollie Judge has said the songs depict places, events and architecture, and critics heard the record as paranoid and dystopian.[1] It reached number four on the UK Albums Chart and holds a Metacritic average of 89.[1] The singles were "Narrator", "Paddling" and "Pamphlets".[1]
