Depression Cherry
About this Album
Depression Cherry is the fifth studio album by Beach House, released on Sub Pop on August 28, 2015[1]. After touring Bloom with live drums, the duo went back to drum machines and simple arrangements[2]. The rock elements were pared back, with fewer drums and more minimalist guitar, leaving more room for Victoria Legrand's vocals[3].
Legrand has said the album's meaning changes for her from day to day, and that it holds love, pain, aging, loss, and letting go[4]. Stereogum's Caitlin White called it the band's saddest record, a set of wounded dream pop about grief and the calm that follows it[5]. The band cautioned against reading too much into the title[3].
