Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill
About this Album
*Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill* is the fifth studio album by Grouper, the project of Liz Harris. It was released on June 10, 2008, on Type Records, and runs twelve tracks.[1] Often heard as her breakthrough, it brought clearer melody and song structure to a catalogue that had been largely drone and haze.[2]
The cover is a childhood photograph of Harris taken by her mother.[1] Pitchfork gave the record 8.2 and called it an arresting album of pastoral psychedelic pop, and Metacritic scores it 80/100.[1] Kranky reissued it in 2013 alongside *The Man Who Died in His Boat*.[1]
