About this Album

If You Leave is the debut studio album by Daughter, released on 4AD in March 2013. It reached number 16 in the UK and won Independent Album of the Year at the 2013 AIM Independent Music Awards.[1] Critics praised its lyrics and Elena Tonra's voice while noting its slow, heavy atmosphere.[2][3]

Tonra has said the songs come from her imagination rather than diary entries, and that death is a recurring preoccupation.[4] The band's layered, effects-heavy guitars give the record its enveloping sound.[5]
