Biography
Daughter are a London-based indie folk trio formed in 2010, made up of Elena Tonra (vocals, guitar), Igor Haefeli (guitar) and Remi Aguilella (drums).[1] Tonra, raised in Northwood, London, of Irish-Italian parentage, began by performing acoustic shows under her own name before deciding the format did not suit her; Haefeli, whom she met on a songwriting course, joined on electric guitar.[1]
The band self-released the EP His Young Heart in 2011, then The Wild Youth on Communion Records, and signed to 4AD in 2012.[1] Their debut album If You Leave (2013) reached number 16 in the UK and won Independent Album of the Year at the 2013 AIM Independent Music Awards.[1] Later work includes Not to Disappear (2016), the Life Is Strange: Before the Storm soundtrack (2017), Tonra's solo album Ex:Re (2018) and Stereo Mind Game (2023).[1]
