No Dogs Allowed
About this Album
No Dogs Allowed is the second album by Sidney Gish, self-released on Bandcamp on December 31, 2017.[1] Gish wrote, produced and mixed it alone, and has described its central theme as her rushing to finish it.[2] Its thirteen tracks run from the brief opener Bird Tutorial through Sin Triangle, Sophisticated Space and Impostor Syndrome to the deliberately rougher closer, New Recording 180 (New Year's Eve).[3][2]
Critics heard the anxious, lonely feel of growing up online in its stylistic range, from disco to somber folk.[4] Pitchfork rated it 7.7, and it won Album of the Year at the 2018 Boston Music Awards.[1] Gish has said she likes the title for how it sounds and the idea of a no-dogs sign on the cover.[5]
