About this Album
Out of Control is the fifth studio album by Girls Aloud, released in Ireland on 31 October 2008 and in the UK on 3 November 2008.[1] It was recorded in the summer of 2008 at Xenomania's studios in Kent, with vocals mostly recorded individually, which Sarah Harding described as more relaxed than on earlier records.[1]
The album pairs 1960s influences with 1980s-inspired electropop, and one review called it the group's most melancholy record to date.[1] It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, their first studio album to do so, and has sold around 811,000 chart units in the UK.[2] Lead single "The Promise" won the Brit Award for Best British Single.[2]
A deluxe edition is due on 13 November 2026, with remixes, rarities, live recordings and unheard Xenomania vault songs, including a version of "Miss You Bow Wow" sung solely by Sarah Harding.[2]
