About this Album

Parallelograms was released in 1970 on Kapp Records and was produced by the film composer Leonard Rosenman, who had met Linda Perhacs as one of her dental clients and brought her into the studio after hearing a demo.[3][2] Rosenman also contributed arrangement and electronic effects, and the sessions brought in players such as drummer Shelly Manne.[2]

The record blends psychedelic folk with experimental texture, layering Perhacs's multitracked voice over picked guitar and unusual electronic touches.[1][2] It was largely ignored on release, and the lack of promotion led Perhacs to return to dental hygiene.[2]

A revival began in the late 1990s, with reissues in 2003, 2008, 2010 and 2014.[2] Critics have since praised it highly, with Pitchfork at 8.6 out of 10 and Tiny Mix Tapes giving it five stars.[2][4]
