Slanted and Enchanted
About this Album
Slanted and Enchanted is the 1992 debut album by Pavement, released by Matador. It was recorded cheaply over about ten days, with sessions in Brooklyn at the end of 1990 and at drummer Gary Young's studio in Stockton, California in January 1991.[1]
The album is a touchstone of lo-fi indie rock, praised by critics for balancing tune and noise. Its title is said to riff on an Emily Dickinson line about telling the truth slant, a suggestion credited to David Berman.[2]
