About this Album

Something Else by the Kinks is the band's fifth UK studio album, released in September 1967 on Pye.[1] Apart from one track recorded in 1966, it was made between autumn 1966 and summer 1967 at Pye Studios in London.[1]

Its sound leans toward baroque pop and music hall, with harpsichords, acoustic guitars and delicate harmonies.[1] It was the last Kinks album of the decade involving producer Shel Talmy, after which Ray Davies produced the band himself.[1]

It sold poorly on release, and critics have since called it both a commercial failure and an artistic landmark.[1] The singles were "Waterloo Sunset" and "Death of a Clown".[1]
