About this Album

you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is the third studio album by Olivia Rodrigo, released on June 12, 2026, by Geffen Records.[1]

Dan Nigro, her longtime collaborator, produced the record and co-wrote most of it. Rodrigo has described drawing on her time in London, and the album was framed as her most experimental yet.[1]

Its thirteen tracks follow the arc of a single relationship. The first seven songs focus on devotion and melodrama, and the final six turn to malaise, distress and decline. The closer, "Cigarette Smoke," shifts blame toward the ex and leaves the story deliberately unresolved.[1][2]

Critical response was largely positive, with Metacritic reporting a score of 87 from 26 critics, a rating of universal acclaim.[1]

Track eight, "Begged," is a restrained acoustic ballad about affection that loses its value when it has to be requested. Rodrigo wrote it in one sitting during a London trip, and it debuted on Saturday Night Live on May 2, 2026.[3][4]

Its second single, "The Cure," arrived on May 22, 2026, and opens the album's sadder second half. Rodrigo called it the thesis statement of the record, and reviewers read it as the turning point, a song in which the narrator recognizes that she carries her own old wounds into the relationship.[5]

"Honeybee," was released as a promotional single on the album's release day. Rodrigo has described it as the first love song she wrote for the record, one that holds fear alongside affection.[7] It reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100, and its limited seven-inch edition carried "Cigarette Smoke" as the B-side.[6]

Track eleven, "Less," is a late, stripped-down piano song about a relationship that is ending without a villain. It peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100.[8]
