Biography
Ariana Grande is an American singer, songwriter and actor who has become one of the defining pop voices of her generation. Her eighth studio album, petal, was announced for July 31, 2026[1].
Her 2024 album eternal sunshine marked a period in which she openly addressed fame, fan attachment and media scrutiny in her songs[2]. Her 2026 single βHate That I Made You Love Meβ, written with longtime collaborators Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, her tenth chart-topper in the United States[3].
Grande has described petal as an album about growing through difficult circumstances and separating from negative influences[4].
petal was released on July 31, 2026, her first album since the end of her Wicked press run, and drew mixed reviews alongside praise for its restraint[5]. Its closer, "nowhere, nobody," has been read as a quiet callback to "Breathin'," the Sweetener song that grew out of the anxiety she experienced after the 2017 Manchester bombing[6].
petal is her first release since the two Wicked films, and arrived on Republic Records on July 31, 2026[7]. It came near the end of the North American leg of the Eternal Sunshine Tour, and Grande described the writing as a little feral, drawing on places she had previously been too shy or polite to explore[8].
The album's title track, "petal," was written by Grande alone and produced with Ilya Salmanzadeh and Max Martin. It reached the top five of the Billboard Global 200 and the UK singles chart[9], and Grande said the album was written from a place of unfiltered rage that she is usually too shy to tap into[10].
